Job Description

A Mechanic/Bore Mechanic is required for a privately owned cattle station situated North West of Alice Springs.
Duties will include:
" Service and maintain 28 livestock watering points which include solar and helical rotor pumps.
" Daily responsibility for 200 kw power station, and homestead water supply.
" Responsibility for operation and general organisation of station workshop, servicing and minor repairs to station vehicles and plant.
" Perform steel fabrication
" Assist with stock work as required.
" Other general duties which include homestead maintenance, assisting with butchering, minor electrical repairs etc.
" Responsibility for Livestock Nutrition delivery and operation
It is essential that applicants have:
" a sound mechanical knowledge with previous experience in the operation and maintenance of solar and bore equipment
" the skills necessary to maintain and service a 200 kw 3ph diesel hybrid power station (technical on job training provided)
" proficient skills in welding and steel fabrication
" computer literacy
" electrical experience
" some understanding of animal husbandry
It is desirable that applicants:
" hold a current heavy truck license
" have experience in handling livestock
" have an understanding of livestock nutrition and animal husbandry
Preference will be given to a person who can demonstrate the ability to show initiative and work unsupervised while being part of a team that demands excellent levels of communication.
This station is located in a relatively isolated situation therefore it is essential that the successful applicants will have the ability to live in harmony within a small community of up to fifteen people.
The position of Bore Mechanic/Mechanic is a full time, six days per week role.
Accommodation comes in the form of a 2 bedroom cottage with established garden.
The salaray package is negotiable with skills, ability and experience.
