POSITION TITLE Physiotherapist

REPORTS TO This position reports to the state Physiotherapy Team leader who is accountable to the Professional Services Manager (PSM) and through them to the Executive Management Committee.
PERSONNEL SUPERVISED Nil
ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT This Company provides a comprehensive range of allied health care services - delivered within Aged Care Facilities. The organisation has a Board of Management which consists of qualified and practicing Allied Health Practitioners as well as business managers. All of our services are tailor made to fall in line with Government regulations pertaining to Aged Care - this allows our clients to meet Accreditation Standards and also reach maximum funding for their residents.
LOCAL WORK ENVIRONMENT The position will work autonomously in their role as Physiotherapist but within a multidisciplinary environment. Working bedside and/or in a specialist room where required. We have a high expectation that our staff operate as a co-operative team within the layers of an aged care facility. Our Emphasis is on having staff that are strong communicators, flexible, multi-skilled and are able to work with a diverse range of individuals and groups. Staff are expected, when required, to rotate with and/or back-up other staff who work in other localities. This will be expected within reason and with advance warning where possible. Support visits are carried out at least once a year for all practitioners by their team leader at one of their regular sites.

POSITIONAL SCOPE
To provide client centred Physiotherapy services inline with specific Aged Care requirements. Primary aims are to reduce pain, maximise mobility and independence of the client to perform the activities of daily living.
KEY RESPONSIBILIES Clinical Duties -
• Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and care plans to aged care residents. Summarising with ‘Allied health Directives’ (AHDs) as per funding guidelines.
• Implement & Manage Pain Management clinics in line with AHDs.
• Work co-operatively with Exercise Physiologists and Physio Aides at the facility, and supervise any students on placement.
• Liase and work co-operatively with other staff members at the facility to ensure clients needs are met appropriately through open and strong communication with management and staff of the facility.
• Develop and foster professional relationships with other Companies service providers in the facility such as the visiting Podiatrist, Optometrist and other allied health providers.
• Develop and manage appropriate methods to manage current work load of care delivery and documentation requirements.
• Work in line with The Companies Policy and Procedures to ensure that conduct and standards of care are maintained at the highest level.
• Work co-operatively with other members of the Company Physiotherapy team in organising and running relevant group activities and promoting other Companies all services to the facility.
• Other duties as directed by the Professional Services Manager/Team Leader


Administrative Responsibilities:


• Maintain Physiotherapy supplies, documentation and equipment to ensure smooth operation of the service. All orders must be authorised and approved by the Team Leader or Professional Services Manager and go through the Purchasing Officer at the Companies head office.
• Participate in conference calls as directed by Team Leader and any other team meetings.
• Maintenance of client record keeping, in line with aged care standards.
• Complete and fax ‘Physiotherapy & Pain Management Weekly Debriefing Report’ at the end of each working week to head office.
• Participate in Continued Professional Development to update and maintain Physiotherapy knowledge and skills.
• Participate in The Companies continuous Quality Improvement Process and reviews.

Changing Environment:

Due to the constant change in the Aged Care Sector, by its regulatory body and the funding instrument, employees will be ready and accepting of change. employees are expected to participate and contribute to additional/unusual duties and projects as part of their work within the facility.

Other Duties:

• To ensure that client confidentiality is respected and upheld at all times
• To notify management in the event of any incident involving the employee within the facility, or damage to The Companies property/equipment.
• To promote good public relations on behalf of the Company
• To participate in project work as required, in particular clinical data recording and audits - as directed by the Team Leader.
• To ensure services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.
• To ensure a safe workplace according to facility and The Companies OHS standards and policies.
• To participate in ongoing quality improvement activities of The Company. These activities include planning and evaluation of programs and services, performance development and audits - as directed by Professional Services Manager and/or Team Leader
