Job Description

A consultant Plastic Surgeon post is available at this tertiary referral hospital for a Plastic Surgeon to join the Plastic Surgery Unit and to provide comprehensive services in Plastic Surgery for patients in the region.

This hospital is the principal and major trauma hospital for the region with a population in excess of 500,000. The hospital is well equipped with over 500 beds and is the principal teaching hospital the nearby Medical School. The hospital provides a regional trauma services, has a 13 bed Intensive Care Unit and 10 operating theatres. Strong research links are maintained. All specialties are represented with the exception of organ transplantation. The hospital has well developed post graduate teaching programs. A fully equipped medical library is available on site with a large collection of hard copy and on line journals and textbooks.

This is a city with outstanding amenities and excellent housing, educational and leisure opportunities. It is home to national icons and monuments as well as natural treasures. The coast and ski fields are nearby and it has exceptionally good transport links.

The Plastic Surgery Unit is a busy service and has access to excellent imaging and diagnostic facilities. The current service manages on average 900 patient separations per annum.

Applications are invited for this position from medical graduates with FRACS or equivalent and recognition as a Specialist Surgeon in Plastic Surgery. A long term appointment in intended. Attractive remuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
