The hospital:
Affiliated with the University of Queensland the hospital has 350 beds including an ICU with 10beds, CCU/HDU with 10 beds and a 9-cotted SCBU. Emergency Medicine is located in a purpose-built block with up-to-date facilities that are first rate and is staffed by eight emergency physicians. The department sees in excess of 36 000 patients each year with a high trauma load, and receives patients from a helicopter critical care transport service.
