Job Description

This Australian medical job as a General Surgeon is potentially suitable for you if you are an internationally trained surgeon seeking an Area of Need opportunity. Located in the rainforest tableland just west of coastal north Queensland, you will be part of the regional surgical team with most of your work at one of the rural base hospitals.

Your primary responsibilities will include the usual array including:

* Elective and emergency General Surgical Care
* You will report to the District Director of Surgery
* Participation in the District’s Integrated Risk Management and Safety programme, including participation in the Incident Monitoring System and Root Cause Analysis where appropriate
* Participate in the ‘on call’ roster for the care of surgical patients
* Actively participate in committees relevant to areas of clinical responsibility
* Teaching, outreach clinics and other leadership responsibilities as appropriate
