Travellers At Work

Job Description

This beef cattle breeding farm can supply continuous work for your specific needs to meet that all important visa requirement, short or long term work is available.

I\'m looking for people who wish to stay for a minimum* of 2 weeks to 3 months as the farm has a tight schedule to follow

(*less by negotiation if you have previous farm or trade experience relevant to my operations).

I have previously had a number of backpackers working on the farm.

The work is voluntary, no paid work, however, the accommodation and food is provided for free so you can save money while working. You are more than welcome to bring food if you wish.

The farm itself has 53 adult cattle, 5 replacement heifers (teenagers) and 6 calves currently (1 just a baby), plus a cat. (cattle numbers usually higher but have downsized because of the drought, so future numbers may change).

I donated my horse to another property as he wasn\'t getting enough attention and was lonely, however have visiting rights and neighbours have lots of horses and have been known to take backpackers on rides in the past.

This farm has been run throughout with one farmer owner only.
Please don\'t regard this as an easy opportunity to gain your 2nd WHV as there are important aspects in running the farm. Please be prepared to get dirty with physical work involved. This can be a fun environment if you are prepared to put the effort in. I do strongly advise that people who don\'t have a positive aspect towards the position would be better off looking elsewhere.

I don\'t mean to put you off the position but I do have deadlines and targets to reach and have a lot of responsibilities so I don\'t really have enough time to take on applicants who wish to have an easy ride.

This includes mentally as well as physically i.e you would be expected to pay attention during training /induction so that I do not have to continually repeat myself; to notice what is going on around you and become effective at working alone and not needing me to be thinking for you all the time. Whilst I am prepared to train I also expect applicants to assume responsibility for work they are given and to think about what they are doing.

The farm itself is based approx 20km west of Coffs Harbour on the mid North coast of NSW.

The farm has great visual aspects, with a river running around the site, with great valley views. If you\'re interested in wildlife then there is a lot to see from snakes (if you wish to find them) platypus, echidna, wallabies, turtles, water dragons and plenty of bird wildlife.

Transport includes a school bus (on school days) past front gate, other connections we can discuss if you wish over the phone.

Visitors have mobile and internet reception at this site, provided the carrier and equipment are suitable. 2 local villages are within 6 km away.

Accommodation is sharing the farmhouse with me (own bedroom or share with another backpacker, share other facilities)

Willing to train inexperienced people who are prepared to put the work in to learning.

Previous experience/practical skills highly regarded.

Immediate start.
